Writer's Block: Not Enough Coverage

[Error: unknown template qotd]
Surprisingly enough, I have realized that many young parents (including myself) find completely insufficient the coverage of difficulties that expect them while raising a child. Some of them go further and suspect a conspiracy behind this information block, but this is, perhaps, an exaggeration. Many women are concerned with the birth giving process, but after the suffering is forgotten, they admit that raising the child afterwards is incomparably more difficult, though receives almost no coverage.

эээ... у тебя видимо мало молодых мам во френдленте :).

мало; общение по-поводу детей как-то естественно концентрируется в off-line.

These days even the father's side has enough coverage. But maybe once the child is born, they don't have time to read. :-)

Your claim would be stronger if it would be supported by some references. Perhaps the blogers supply some coverage, but I do not have time to read. My claim is more general: the whole cultural experience of the humanity has completely disproportional coverage of this important topic.

I like the books by Armin A. Brott. But I suppose it is hard to write a good book on the subject: the things you read go into the intellectual side of your mind, and once IT starts pooping and yelling, you are disconnected from that. And traditionally, books weren't needed at all - you got all your basic knowledge by observing your relatives, and there were grandparents nearby.

Actually, there may be some chapters on that in the traditional religious books
- like Upanishads, or Koran, but I am just guessing, I have not read them. :-)

Agreed. I have a child myself.. it is hard. But, you go on

But, you go on you do not have a choice now. But it would be only fair if people would be warned in advance.

Yeah, you go on. Your right, you do not have a choice. But you did before you had the child

If you don't know what you're getting into, chances are, you should not have did what you did.
